The Making of
the Seven Cs

One family, one big heart, and a journey we never expected — but wouldn't trade for anything.

From a Family of Four
to Seven & Counting

🌿

We are Jeremy & Lindsey Crump, and our family has grown in ways we never expected — though if we're honest, it was never entirely a surprise.

Fostering had been on both of our hearts long before we had children — honestly, probably before we said "I do." It sat as a quiet someday between us for years. We talked about it, believed in it, and then life moved on. We didn't realize God was simply waiting for the right moment.

We started as a family of four, but when we opened our hearts to fostering, everything changed.

In the spring of 2024, we began our fostering journey with one clear intention: keep sibling sets together. On September 11, 2024, three siblings — affectionately known as "the 3 Cs" — were placed in our care.

For seven years we tried to grow our family and couldn't understand why the door stayed closed. Finally, Matthew came. And it wasn't until the 3 Cs arrived that we understood — God wasn't withholding. He was making room.

For the past 20 months, we've done our best to make our three-bedroom, one-bathroom home work for all seven of us. Two of our foster children are non-verbal autistic, and our middle one also has Pica and mobility challenges. These kids are extraordinary, and they deserve an extraordinary home.

Adoption day has arrived. With the certainty that our family is complete, we are taking the next step — building an addition that finally gives every one of our seven Cs the space and safety they deserve.

The Magnificent Seven

💛

Seven hearts. Seven stories. One family. Each of us brings something unique to this wild, wonderful, chaotic, loving home we share.

Jeremy
🧔
Daddy
Jeremy
Chief of Chaos

Jeremy is the kind of person who doesn't make a lot of noise about the things he carries — he just carries them. He's the steady presence behind this family's story, the one who showed up every day and figured it out.

Fostering had been on Jeremy's heart for a long time — since before the kids, likely before the wedding. When someday finally arrived, it was Jeremy who — walking into the foster care process — said the words that would define their entire journey: let's keep the siblings together. That one decision changed everything.

Jeremy works remotely, which has proven to be one of those quiet provisions that makes the daily rhythm of a seven-person household actually possible. He is also the worship leader at their church — where Nellie has recently started joining him on stage, which might be one of our favorite new developments around here.

Lindsey
👩‍👧‍👦
Mama
Lindsey
Professional Cat Herder

If Jeremy is the steady hand, Lindsey is the engine. She is the one who keeps seven people fed, loved, scheduled, and moving in the right direction — often all at the same time.

Fostering had been on Lindsey's heart since long before it happened — one of those quiet callings that sat patiently until the timing was right. When the 3 Cs arrived, she didn't just open the door. She learned their therapies, showed up to every IEP meeting ready to advocate, fought for what each child needed, and built a routine out of what most people would call chaos. She gets them to OT, PT, Speech, and BT. She tracks the progress. She celebrates every milestone — because she knows how hard every single one was earned.

We won't pretend any of this is easy. But Lindsey makes it look like love — because to her, that's exactly what it is.

Nellie
🌸
Biological
Nellie
15 years old · The Little Mama

Nellie is fifteen going on thirty-five — in the best possible way. She was our first, our only child for more than nine years, and the only grandkid for many of those years. She had every bit of our attention and love, and she soaked it all in. She was also, from very early on, asking for siblings. Long before Matthew, long before the 3 Cs, Nellie knew this family was meant to be bigger.

When Matthew finally arrived, she stepped straight into "little mama" mode without being asked — and she hasn't stepped out of it since. When the 3 Cs came home and this family went from a chill family of four to complete, beautiful, wonderful chaos overnight, Nellie didn't flinch. She rolled up her sleeves. She helps get everyone ready, keeps up with the constant movement, and brings a steady presence to the whirlwind that is daily life for seven people. We genuinely couldn't do this without her.

She has a special bond with all three of the Cs, though Charlie — now thoroughly a mama's boy — attached himself to Nellie first. Something about her just made him feel safe, right from the beginning.

Nellie has been homeschooled her whole life. She's a reader. She sings, and has recently started joining her dad on stage at church. She swims. She's recently taken up cross country running, and though it's hard, she is pushing through with pure determination. She is not a quitter.

And since spending time with Peter, Cami, and Charlie and their therapy teams? She's decided she wants to become an OT tech — working directly with kids just like her siblings. We can already picture her perfectly in that role.

Nellie is also dyslexic — a challenge she worked through with grit and dedication, graduating her tutoring program having fully overcome it. Because that's just who she is.

Peter
🎣
One of the 3 Cs · Foster → Adopted
Peter
9 years old · The Oldest C

Calvin — who chose the name Peter for himself upon adoption, a decision that tells you everything you need to know about who he is. When he first came into our home, he was shy and very cautious. But even then, you could see his heart. He loves his siblings fiercely and has such a gentle strength about him. Peter loves school, art, being outside, fishing, swimming, and anything that lets him just be a kid. But the most incredible part of his story is his faith journey. When he first arrived, he didn't know anything about Jesus. Now, he can't stop talking about Him. He tells everyone about "his Jesus," and it's something truly special to witness. He especially loves the song "Goodness of God" — and when you think about it, the Lord has been so, so faithful to this sweet boy. Watching him grow from shy and unsure to loving boldly and wholeheartedly has been such a gift.

Cami
👑
One of the 3 Cs · Foster → Adopted
Cami
7 years old · The Princess

Meet Cami — our middle C, our princess, and one of the bravest little souls we've ever known. At 7 years old, Cami has a Level 3 autism diagnosis, which means she requires very substantial support in communication and daily life. She is non-verbal, navigates Pica, and wears ankle braces to help her move through the world. She will more than likely always live at home with us — she is our forever child.

And if we're honest? When we first understood what that meant, it felt heavy. Unknown. Even a little scary. But the Lord has been so faithful.

Over the last year and a half, we've watched Cami blossom in ways we once only prayed for. She's learning to communicate through her AAC device and Gestalt languageA way of learning to communicate by using whole phrases heard before — like lines from songs or shows — rather than building sentences word by word. Many autistic children learn this way naturally.. Her Pica symptoms are so much better managed. With her ankle braces, she's walking more steadily — and she is even jumping on the trampoline. She's working so hard on potty training, and she continues to grow through OT, PT, Speech, and BT therapies. Every single step feels like a miracle. And we are so proud of how far she has come.

Matthew
🚂
Biological
Matthew
6 years old · The Tiny Boy

Matthew is one of those rare kids who came into the world already knowing exactly who he is. Before the 3 Cs arrived, he was Mr. Independent — happy adventuring on his own, unbothered by other kids his age, and deeply content in his own world. He had his people (a carefully selected few), and that was enough. He's been tinkering with things since he could reach them, driven by a brilliant, logical mind that understands how things work well beyond his years. He doesn't just want to know how something works — he wants to know the why behind the why.

And then the 3 Cs arrived, and something shifted. Matthew, the boy who didn't need anyone, connected with all three of them in a way that has been one of the most beautiful surprises of this journey. He and Peter are absolute best buds — partners in adventure, partners in mischief, and a perfectly balanced pair. Matthew may be tiny, but Peter's size means there's no adventure too big for the two of them together. He and Charlie share the "twins" bond, and he's taken to big-brother life like he was made for it.

He still tinkers. He still asks why. But now he has a crew — and this family wouldn't be the same without him.

Matthew is homeschooled and just wrapped up kindergarten. 🎉

Charlie
🦕
One of the 3 Cs · Foster → Adopted
Charlie
6 years old · The Youngest C

Charlie Bear — our youngest C, the boy who will say "mum" approximately 450 times a day and mean it every single time. At 6 years old, Charlie has a Level 2 autismLevel 2 autism means Charlie needs significant support in communication and daily life — more than some, less than others. With the right help and environment, kids at this level can make remarkable progress. diagnosis, meaning he needs significant support — but with the right people around him, he is absolutely flourishing.

Life with Charlie looks like hours of trampoline jumping, coloring and painting at any available surface, a standing popcorn request (the answer is usually yes), and a very important collection of tigers lined up with great care — anywhere and everywhere he goes. He is a boy of deep passions and wonderful routines, and we wouldn't change a single thing.

Since joining our family, Charlie has made huge strides with his AAC device and sign language — and he is constantly finding new ways to verbalize more. He receives OT, PT, Speech, and BT therapies and is enrolled in general education with an assistant. Watching him grow has been one of the great joys of this journey.

And here's a fun fact that never gets old: Charlie and his brother Matthew are just one month apart — which means this house has two 6-year-olds. We sometimes call them "the twins," and honestly? It fits perfectly.

Creating a Home That Fits All of Us

🏡

For 20 months, seven people have shared a three-bedroom, one-bathroom home. We've made it work — because love makes it work — but we've always known that more space would mean more safety, more dignity, and more peace for every child under our roof.

With adoption day here, we are fully committed. The addition will be built with the help of our community — a local church is donating volunteer labor through their men's group, and the support we've received has been overwhelming.

The heart of this project is simple: give Cami a safe, accessible space on the main floor. Right now she shares a room upstairs with Nellie, which creates daily challenges — navigating stairs and the risk of accessing harmful items due to her Pica. This addition changes that entirely.

🛏️

Cami's Safe Downstairs Suite

A secure, accessible bedroom and play space on the main floor, designed around Cami's needs — no stairs, no hazards, all love.

🚪

Nellie's Own Space

Giving our 15-year-old her own secure bedroom upstairs — the privacy every teenager deserves.

🚿

A Second Bathroom

Seven people, one bathroom. Enough said. A second bath will be a life-changer for our busy mornings.

🧺

A Real Laundry Room

With seven people generating laundry, a dedicated laundry space will make a world of difference in our daily routine.

Be Part of Our Story

💜

When we first started fostering, we hesitated to make permanent changes to our home because of the uncertainty that comes with the process. We wanted to be sure. Now, we are sure — and we are so grateful to every person who has walked this road with us.

A local church held a bake sale for us. Friends have shown up in ways that brought us to tears. The generosity of this community has been humbling.

We didn't arrive at this GoFundMe easily. We started with a t-shirt campaign — because asking for donations didn't sit comfortably with either of us. But friends kept coming to us saying they didn't need another shirt; they just wanted to help. So we created the GoFundMe. It was built by popular demand, out of community love — and that's exactly the spirit in which we receive every gift.

If you feel called to help, here's how:
